Mia Thornton appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on January 26, where she revealed the reasons behind her recent breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Incognito. According to Mia, their split was due to the attention Incognito received from his appearance on The Real Housewives of Potomac.
Mia explained that Incognito had worked hard to build his career as a radio personality and felt the exposure from the Bravo series didn’t align with his professional image. Despite their separation, Mia emphasized that they remain close and maintain a strong friendship.
The Impact of Reality TV on Incognito’s Career
Mia, who is 40, explained that Incognito had been a successful radio personality for 20 years, and his brand was important to him. The spotlight from RHOP was not something he wanted to align himself with, and this difference in priorities led to their parting ways. Mia expressed that she fully respected his decision, acknowledging that while they were no longer dating or exclusive, their bond was intact. Mia further clarified that she and Incognito were still very close, but their romantic relationship had ended.
During the Watch What Happens Live interview, Mia was also questioned about her still-married status to Gordon Thornton, her husband, while she was involved with Incognito. She defended her actions by stating that she needed to finalize her divorce before pursuing a relationship with anyone else.
She assured the public that her main focus was on her marriage and children. Despite this, Mia hinted that her future with Incognito was not entirely closed, suggesting that their connection could evolve over time, saying, “What’s meant to be is forever.”
The DNA Test Drama
Mia and Incognito’s relationship has been a point of controversy on RHOP, with the pair rekindling their romance while Mia was still married to Gordon. The drama intensified when Mia questioned whether Gordon was the biological father of their son, Jeremiah.
A DNA test, that Gordon had conducted, indicated that he was the father, but Mia expressed doubt about the results. She revealed on WWHL that she had not been involved in the test process and requested a formal test. Mia suggested that the situation could have been resolved much sooner if everyone had acted more maturely.
The breakup between Mia and Incognito won’t be shown on RHOP, as filming had ended before the split was publicly announced over the holidays. Mia is not the first cast member whose partner has struggled with the pressures of reality TV. Throughout the season, Mia’s co-star Keiarna Stewart has also dealt with her boyfriend Greg’s discomfort with being in the public eye.
Ashley Darby, another RHOP cast member, commented that reality TV can exacerbate any issues in a relationship. She reflected on her own challenges with her estranged husband, Michael Darby, who also faced similar struggles with their publicized personal life.
