Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu, widely referred to as KimPau, expressed gratitude to their supporters who celebrated their collaboration in two successful projects.
Their performances in Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? have garnered attention, with the latter set to air on free television starting May 25.
During a media interaction at the ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City, Paulo addressed the excitement among fans hoping the two might take their on-screen chemistry off-screen.

“I understand their enthusiasm, but let’s take it slow,” Paulo shared. “Kim just ended a relationship, so let’s allow people to enjoy our pairing and give them space to explore.” Back in December 2023, Kim confirmed her breakup with longtime partner Xian Lim.
Expressing her gratitude, Kim acknowledged the fans’ support. “It’s nice that we can make people happy. Let’s enjoy this moment. We’re thankful for their support, especially when episodes trend.
It makes us happy knowing we bring joy to others,” she said. However, Paulo admitted he feels uneasy about being labeled part of a “love team.”
“Honestly, I don’t,” Paulo said when asked about the tag. “Our producers even mentioned that other countries aren’t familiar with this concept.
I prefer calling it a tandem or on-screen partnership because I don’t like the stigma associated with love teams here in the Philippines.” Kim agreed, adding, “At our age, we know what’s best for us and the direction we want to take in showbiz.”
Paulo clarified that their fans are a priority for both of them. “They’re the reason we’re trending. We appreciate their social media discussions and tweets about us,” he remarked. When asked about her wish for Paulo, who celebrated his birthday on May 13, Kim said, “Peace of mind.”
Reflecting on their professional relationship, Kim shared that while she doesn’t know Paulo deeply yet, she’s learning more about him. “We’ve only worked together a few times.
It just so happened that our projects came one after another. We weren’t close before, but we’ve gotten to know each other better now,” she explained.
Paulo echoed her sentiments. “As time passes, you get to know a person better. From what I’ve seen so far, Kim is genuinely kind,” he said.
Their collaboration on What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? has also revealed new facets of their personalities. “She’s really funny,” Kim said when asked about Paulo. “Sometimes, her bubbly personality might make both of us burst into laughter.”
Paulo, on the other hand, shared that Kim’s generosity stood out to him. “Every time we work together, I discover something new. Recently, I realized how generous she is,” he noted.
Kim jokingly admitted Paulo is more giving than she is. “He’s incredibly generous, especially when it comes to the staff. I’ve seen it firsthand on the set of Secretary Kim. I thought it was just a rumor, but he really gives people what they deserve,” she said, laughing.
